Forged Enhancements: Specialized Gear Mods
about 7 years ago – Fri, Mar 10, 2017 at 03:22:44 PM

A popular part of 5E fantasy is the discovery of magic items and relics. For our sci-fi setting, we decided to take a different approach to this in the form of "Forged Enchancements".

Where the Master Technician's Guidebook has rules to make basic gear modifications, it also provides these specialized enhancements that take things to the next level.

How they work

Forged Enhancements are attachments made from Sorium ore harvested from the Crucibles. They come in different forms, from mechanical trinkets to flawless gemstones. Weapons, armor, or miscellaneous items can be modified to accept certain types of forged enhancement.

Each enhancement provides a different effect. Where one may increase the weight and accuracy of a weapon, another may grant the ability to survive in space, translate any language, or cause an edge or ammunition to charge with lightning.

You can remove an enhancement in favor of another, but the one removed will permanently lose functionality, so you need to make sure which enhancement you want before you attach it. At higher tiers, items that can accept more than one enhancement become available. This creates a multitude of options when customizing your gear!

Availability

Forged enhancements are optional and their use is at the discretion of the GM. In the Organized Play campaign, they will sometimes be made available as mission rewards. However, they will still be very uncommon since they can greatly affect gameplay balance.

As always, please post any questions you may have in the comments section below. Until next time!

Organized Play: The Crucible Corps
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 09, 2017 at 01:21:18 PM

Hello, Espers!

Today's update contains information about our Organized Play Campaign: The Crucible Corps!

Once we release the official ruleset, we will be launching our first wave of OP adventures and organizing events at conventions and for in-store play where players can dive into the EG universe for the first time, their characters shaping both the history and future of the Silrayne Arc.

The Adventure

The first series is called "The Kenasi Legacy". The mystery surrounding the reappearance of a derelict star cruiser unfolds into a mission that will take our players from an abandoned base within the shadow of a dark star, to the sprawling capital of Silrayne Prime, to the deep underground of Earth's Sector 77.

The Campaign

After the first series, we'll be continuing our OP series to include adventures for both introductory and higher tier characters, with rewards available for players and gamemasters alike. As the campaign grows, we'll be running special events at gaming conventions throughout the year.

The Events

We are extremely fortunate to have Eric Wiener on our team, who has helped orchestrate the highly successful Living Arcanis organized play campaign. You'll be able to catch all of us promoting Esper Genesis this summer at Origins 2017 and again this fall at Gen Con.

Our "Champion of the Silrayne" backers will be presented with a uniquely tailored adventure at any one of those events which will mark the kick-off the official OP campaign.

If anyone would like to provide input or suggestions in what they would like to see in Esper Genesis Organized Play, please let us know in your comments!

More About Our Immersive Setting!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Mar 08, 2017 at 11:09:45 AM

Esper Genesis stays true to the core 5e rules, which means it will work with just about any 5e compatible product, but it's the setting we've created that drives gameplay in EG. If you're a fan of high adventure science fiction - complete with star-spanning alien civilizations, fringe pirates and mercenaries, and esper power-wielding crime syndicates operating from invisible space stations - we've got everything you're looking for!
